33 NORTH

NOMADIC EXPERIENCE

33 North aims at breaking the routine of tourism, offering you a getaway from the hectic life and into a world of nature, fun, and adventure. Our activities give you the opportunity to experience the real beat of the places you are visiting

What makes 33 North so unique and distinguished is its mission. It seeks to shed light on areas that are undervalued, unacknowledged for their glamorous nature and views, and little-known to most hikers. 33 North introduces people to new destinations, allowing both tourists to discover new landmarks and locals to benefit from touristic movements in their areas. Most importantly, the mission of 33 North is to position Lebanon on the international adventure tourism map.

With 33 North, you will enjoy practicing your favorite tourist activities while contributing to the preservation of the environment and natural resources. You will be in direct contact with the residents of the visited places and their way of living. It embraces a community-based approach that offers an alternative to mass tourism. As part of this approach, 33 North provides training for locals to prepare them to receive tourists, to manage their small tourism business, including hospitality, administrative management, and bookkeeping. When rural populations are empowered with such tools, they can better protect their natural heritage while making a sound and wise use of it.

At 33 North, we believe in the importance of solidarity tourism, particularly in rural environments. In solidarity tourism, local populations take charge of tourist activities and manage the additional income resulting from such activities, which helps them improve their livelihoods. In fact, in many countries of the Southern Hemisphere, industrial tourism is negatively affecting many aspects of life and nature, such as the overexploitation of natural resources, loss of identity, and the “folklorization” of cultures.

33 North realizes that tourism consulting is a crucial element towards ensuring the successful implementation of tourism-related strategies, such as training and business development opportunities. 33 North considers tourism consulting a major component of its services.

33 North conducts “Lebanon Winter Expeditions”. They consist of snow camps extending from 5 to 7 days, exploring all Lebanese mountains, and involving technical trainings and trekking trips. 33 North also conducts canyoning activities and winter and summer bivouac. 33 North also includes a mountain skills school, where interested learners are trained on mountaineering and mountain safety by technical experts.
