The Boukaat Loubnan Trail takes its name from the Old Testament's description of the Bekaa Valley. The Western and Eastern Mountain Chain, also known as the Anti Lebanon, are traversed by this trail, which is the first long distance trail to cover the two mountain chains. The inspiration for this trail came from Gilbert Moukheiber, who founded it. Gilbert, founder and manager of 33 North, a Lebanese adventure tour operator is renowned in Lebanon as the master of winter and trekking adventures. The cooperation of the Lebanese Army, the surrounding communities, and 33North's financial and logistical support allowed the route that exists today to become a reality. Every segment of the path has a linear and loop design.
