Trail Brief

This trail starts from Ouyoune Orghosh and passes by Nabee el Shimaly water spring. Hikers then cross a 12-km dirt road amid a beautiful set of Juniper trees to reach the area of Jbab El Homr. In summertime, this area becomes the scene for shepherds tending their flocks. From Jbab el Homr, one can easily see the Kornet el Asshra 2814 m highest peak in the Donniyeh region. The dirt road reaches an end at this point, and hikers cross apple and cherry gardens to get to Al Sawah region. This is where you will see the Lazzab Lodge located in the Hermel Mountains at an altitude of 1860 m above sea level. This area harbors an unspoilt nature, as moving from Ouyoune Orghosh to Hermel, the trail overlooks to its right majestic valleys replete with juniper trees.

Trail Highlight

From Jbab El Homr, advanced hikers can climb to Kornet el Ashra and can even reach Kornet es Sawda, which is Lebanon's highest summit, standing at an altitude of 3088 m. In Jbab el Homr, wide steppes and majestic juniper trees offer stunning views over the Anti-Lebanon Mountain range and Trail. This section is also suitable as a winter destination. Snowshoers can extend their stay at the Lazzab Lodge and enjoy snow hikes in the area. Back-country skiers can ascend Kornet el Ashra and enjoy steep descends zigzagging through juniper trees. Once in Hermel, it is worth extending the stay to visit the Brissa Babylonean inscriptions, Qamouu el Hermel, Mar Maroun on the Assi river, and venture into a rafting activity and enjoy fresh trout fish. From Ouyoune Orgosh, advanced hikers can climb to ornet es Sawda, which is Lebanon's highest summit, standing at an altitude of 3088 m.
